An encounter that changed everything
In 1994 at a crusade in Boksburg, a radical encounter with the Holy Spirit changed Norman's life and direction forever. For 17 years he balanced the corporate world with ministry, serving as an executive director of a public company by day while quietly discipling and caring for those around him.
In late 2010, Norman and Thelma stepped out in obedience to plant Trinity Church Outreach in Cape Town's Northern Suburbs — a church built on one mandate: to reach the people that many churches don't. Today Norman continues to lead the congregation's teaching ministry, bringing a message that is rooted in Scripture and shaped by decades of walking closely with the Holy Spirit.
"After 17 years, God inspired Norman to pursue his call fully. He was released through multiple confirmations and a clear prophetic word."

Called since sixteen
My journey with Christ began at the age of 12, when I gave my life to the Lord in 1980. At 16, I received my calling into full-time ministry, and in 1984 I joined the AFM Youth Mission, where I served for four years. After marrying Pastor Norman Shum, we continued to follow God's calling together. The Lord led us to Cape Town, South Africa, where we planted Trinity Outreach Church, and we were both ordained through Five Fold Ministry International (FFMI). For the past 15 years, we have had the privilege of serving as pastors of Trinity Outreach Church.
Jesus is at the centre of my life, and my greatest desire is to see others truly know Him and experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. My passion in ministry is teaching God's Word, intercession, and counselling, but above all, I long to see people awakened to who they are in Christ and walking in the fullness of what God has created them for.
As a mother, one of my deepest desires is to see my family ready for the return of Jesus. I carry that same desire for the body of Christ, to see believers and their families awakened, strengthened, and inspired, not through knowledge alone, but through a genuine encounter with the Holy Spirit.
Worship is also deeply personal to me. I am passionate about helping God's people enter into authentic worship and experience deeper intimacy with Him. My prayer is that through this ministry, people would encounter Jesus, discover their true identity in Him, and be transformed by His presence.
